The short answer to the title of this post is “A couple of friends talked me into writing a regular blog.” The longer answer is a good place to start.
I have to admit I cringe saying the word “blog” it seems so outdated for 2019.
Back in the late 90s & early 2000s blogging was all the rage. People took to the internet in droves to write about whatever crossed their mind. From blogging sprung many of the first social media platforms - like LiveJournal or Blogger.
But as Facebook & Twitter gained momentum blogging lost it’s cool.
Why blog when everyone could get an audience with a sentence or two?
In fact why even write something when you can post a picture of an “inspirational” quote & incorrectly attribute it to Steve Jobs?
…and here we are.
Which leads me to why I’m starting this blog:
The internet needs more depth to it’s content & blogging is a great way to go about this.
My friend’s made a very flattering pitch: “You’re good at writing & people are interested in your work.” Damn them.
It’s nice to have a place to share cool stuff we’re working on.
In terms of audience I’m aiming to write stuff that is of interest to fellow IT professionals but also shows a bit of what UpShift is capable of to potential clients.
I’ve got a platform, a reason, a purpose & an intended audience - now all I need is the commitment to crank something interesting out every week or so. Wish me luck!
